How to get to Valencia ?
Valencia can easily be reached by plane, train or car. Below is a guide to those options.
Public transport in Valencia
Valencia has 60 bus lines, 6 metro lines and 4 tram lines.
The metro and tram operate with three fare zones: A, B and B+, and the ticket price depends on the zones of your origin and destination. Single metro or tram tickets are purchased exclusively from station ticket machines, where you can pay by credit or debit card. In addition to the ticket, you must purchase a physical card, which you can reload for future journeys: cardboard card: €1.10 or plastic card: €2.20.
Buses are operated by a different company than the metro and tram lines. The EMT Valencia network, recognizable by its red buses, covers the city thouroughly with 43 lines. A single ticket can be purchased directly on board for €2 via credit card. It is valid for a single journey and does not allow transfers.
Traveling from outside the Schengen Area
If you are traveling to Valencia from outside the Schengen Area, please be aware of a recent change to European border procedures.
Two new systems will enter into force in the EU during the course of 2026. The Entry/Exit System (EES) for non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay will be fully operational from 10 April. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) for visa-free nationals will start operations in the last quarter of 2026.
