The SIOG Advanced Course in Geriatric Oncology is designed for professionals who want to stay at the peak of their expertise. The course is a CME accredited training programme led by international experts in the field of geriatrics and oncology designed to provide specific skills in assessment, care pathways and therapeutic choices for older patients with cancer. This 2-phase advanced course covers the general principles of cancer treament using case-based discussions in geriatrics for clinical oncologists as well as in clinical oncology for geriatricians.

Course Dates

Phase 1: A 4 day- course in Treviso, Italy (July 5-8)
Phase 2: Attendance of the SIOG 2023 Annual Conference in Valencia, Spain and final examination (November 9-11)
University Certificate will be provided to participants who have completed Phase I and Phase II of the course.

Programme

• A common module addressed to clinical oncologists and geriatricians
• Two separate modules each for clinical oncologists and geriatricians
• Common case presentations and discussions
• Case selections and their presentations by the course faculty
• Subdivision of the participants in groups for internal anaylsis of cases for presentations of conclusions and general discussion

The faculty remains present and available for individual discussions and guidance as well as for general supervision for the development of multidisciplinary treatment teams in each participant’s institution within one year of completion of the course. It also performs an assessment of the level of activity of the teams within 5 years after the end of the course.
