Speaker

Efthymios Papadopoulos, PhD, R.Kin(inactive)

Efthymios Papadopoulos is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Shabbir Alibhai’s lab at the University Health Network. He completed his PhD in Exercise Sciences at the University of Toronto where he examined the role of physical activity and exercise in improving clinical, fitness, biological, and psychological outcomes in patients undergoing active surveillance for prostate cancer. His postdoctoral research explores the role of low muscle mass and function in predicting treatment- and disease-specific outcomes (e.g., treatment modification, treatment toxicity, disease progression, and overall mortality) in older adults with cancer. Additionally, he is interested in developing lifestyle strategies (e.g., exercise and diet) to preserve muscle mass and function in older adults with cancer. Efthymios has 7+ years of clinical experience as a Registered Kinesiologist. He has previously worked with various clinical populations including patients with musculoskeletal disorders, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. Efthymios is immensely interested in teaching. He currently teaches Human Systems Anatomy in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University.
