The Swiss Group of Geriatric Oncology (SGOG) was founded to improve care, research and the education in the field of geriatric oncology and hematology. Another important mission is to bring the topic to the public domain and politics.
SGOG members are represented by medical oncologists, haematologists, geriatricians and nurses. SGOG members work closely with SAKK (Schweizerische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für klinische Krebsforschung) in collaboration with the SAKK Working Group “Supportive, palliative care and geriatric oncology”.
SGOG is accreditated as a SIOG (International Society of Geriatric Oncology) country group and will be actively collaborating with this group. Swiss Representatives for SIOG: Vérène Dougoud, Marcus Vetter
Projects
- Swiss Landscape in Geriatric Oncology Assessment Survey; SGOG in collaboration with SAKK The first ongoing project of the group is to assess the Swiss landscape of geriatric oncology with a survey addressed to the onco-and haematological clinics, members of SAKK
- Clinical trial – CAR T cell therapy and older patients (Wiebke Roesler/ Michael Gagesch)
Meetings
The SIOG Country Group – Switzerland meets regularly online (zoom meetings) during the year.
