Biographical Info
Dr. Coutinho, a certified Medical Oncologist with a Master's Degree in Medicine, practices at ULS Médio Ave in Portugal, where he serves as an oncologist in the Medical Oncology Unit and as a palliative care physician in the palliative care team. His clinical interests primarily lie in the treatment of gastrointestinal and breast cancers within the oncology realm. Dr. Coutinho also focuses on medical communication, emphasizing the delivery of serious news and patient decision-making processes. He holds postgraduate qualifications in Palliative Care and Clinical Geriatrics. Since May 2020, Dr. Coutinho has been the founder and coordinator of the Geriatric Oncology Working Group of the Portuguese Society of Oncology, actively promoting knowledge enhancement and the implementation of best practices in geriatric oncology in Portugal. He has organized and moderated the first national workshop on oncogeriatrics at a national oncology congress. In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Coutinho received the SIOG National Representative award in 2023. His editorial contributions extend to esteemed scientific journals such as Ecancermedicalscience, BMC Cancer, Journal of Geriatric Oncology, and Geriatrics-MPDI. Dr. Coutinho is deeply engaged in medical education as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Beira Interior, where he co-coordinates the clinical oncology curriculum for medical students. With over 100 works presented and published in academic meetings and various national and international journals, Dr. Coutinho's scholarly contributions significantly impact the fields of oncology and geriatrics.
