
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The SIOG Advanced Course in Geriatric Oncology – Online from India focused on a multi-disciplinary training of experts for the treatment of older cancer patients. In an effort to stimulate learning and interaction, the course covered general principles of cancer treatment using online case-based discussions and debates.
Delegates benefited from a course format that encourages student-faculty interactions. The lectures covered themes in geriatrics for clinical oncologists as well as in clinical oncology for geriatricians.

Giuseppe Colloca is a medical doctor at Policlinico A. Gemelli in Rome; Italy. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at Catholic University of Sacred Heart of Rome in 2001; after a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine (2006) in the same University; he spent one year in Senior Adult Oncology Group at Moffitt Cancer Center; Florida US and then; in the Palliative Care Unit at Fundacio’ Hospital Asil de Granollers; Barcellon Spain. In 2014 he completed his PhD in Geriatric-Oncology. Research Interests: My research interests include early clinical development and pharmacokinetics driven optimization of drugs. My department works primarily on dose optimization of anti-cancer drugs through PK/PD modeling. We have also developed strategies for therapeutic drug monitoring of antifungals and imunosupressants used in bone marrow transplantation. I have been an investigator in several industry sponsored phase I clinical trials of investigational new drugs (INDs). In addition, I am also involved in investigator initiated early clinical development of phytopharmaceuticals for various indications in cancer. My department also undertakes preclinical safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetic evaluation of drugs and novel formulations.

Dr. Anant Ramaswamy is currently Professor, Department of Medical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) in Mumbai. He completed his General Medicine residency at the King George Medical University in Lucknow. Post residency, he gained valuable oncology experience at Apollo Specialty Hospital in Chennai for approximately one and a half years. He then completed his core Medical Oncology training at TMH in 2016, following which he joined as faculty in his alma mater. Dr. Anant treats gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, with a special interest in hepatobiliary and gastric cancers, geriatric oncology and supportive care. He has more than 100 peer reviewed research publications and leads multiple investigator initiated as well sponsored trials in his institution. He is also a recipient of competitive research grants from prestigious organizations such as The Terry Fox Foundation and ICON.

She is a retired Major from the Indian Army where she worked as a short service commissioned medical officer. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Utkal University, Orissa in India and a Doctorate from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Her area of interest is Geriatric Oncology and palliative care. Her research work focuses on the development of appropriate assessment tools for the older person with malignancy and interventions including palliative and supportive care. She is a certified Palliative care Physician from Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) and a volunteer in Non-Government Palliative Care Organization for cancer patients and older patients requiring palliation for various life limiting ailments –CanSupport. She is also involved in basic science research dealing with biomarkers of aging and cancer. Dr Banerjee holds the post of Project Manager from AIIMS, New Delhi in a National Institute of Health (US) funded, multi-centric project, Harmonized Diagnostic Assessment of Dementia for Longitudinal ageing study in India- (LASI-DAD). This is a nationally representative, novel study of its kind dealing with late life cognition and dementia and is a part of an international research collaboration and similar sister studies in different countries.

Assoc Prof Ravindran Kanesvaran is a Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of the Division of Medical Oncology of the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Medical Director of NCCS@ SKH Oncology. He is also an Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and clinical senior lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is actively involved in graduate medical education and is the Program Director of the Medical Oncology Senior Residency Program. His research interests include GU oncology and geriatric oncology. He has published in a number of well-known peer reviewed journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology and Lancet Oncology. He is also the author of textbook chapters in the field of geriatric oncology. He has been awarded a number of awards including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO GU) Merit Award 2009, American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) scholar-in-training Award 2010 and European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) fellowship award 2012. He is currently the immediate past President of the Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO) and the Singapore Geriatric Oncology Society. He is a Council Member of ESMO. He is the current President of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG). He was the National Representative for Singapore in the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) until 2020. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS).

Tanujaa Rajasekaran (SG)
Dr Tanujaa Rajasekaran is a Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology of the National Cancer Centre Singapore, sub-specializing in genitourinary, thoracic and head and neck cancers. She graduated from the National University of Singapore and was awarded the Dean’s list during her undergraduate studies.
She completed her medical oncology specialty training in the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Her research interests are in geriatric oncology and genitourinary cancers. She also awarded the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) fellowship grant 2013 for her research in geriatric oncology. She has published in a number of well-known peer reviewed journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Singhal is an avid and well-respected geriatrician. He has done his training (MBBS, MD Geriatric Medicine and Senior Residency) from AIIMS, Delhi. He is currently a faculty in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur. He is an expert and proficient clinician, academician, and researcher. He has been published in multiple peer-reviewed international journals and is an investigator in various funded research projects including LASI-DAD. He has also authored multiple chapters in geriatric textbooks and is also part of various government task forces for geriatric healthcare.
