Young SIOG is comprised of junior members of SIOG. We welcome clinicians and researchers from any disciplines or individuals working in the field of geriatric oncology to join us.

Conditions of eligibility

  • Junior experts in the field of geriatric oncology (upper age limit is 40)
  • Working as a trainee in any discipline that is related to the treatment of older cancer patients (e.g. surgery, radiotherapy, medical oncology, urology, pulmonology, haematology) and / or PhD student, postdoctoral fellow or researcher

Membership Benefits

  • Join network of junior researchers and clinicians in the field of geriatric oncology, and actively contribute to the field of geriatric oncology.
  • Participate in Young SIOG activities during the SIOG Annual Conferences. These include the Young SIOG General Assembly, networking sessions, and mentor/buddy program.
  • Submit an abstract to the SIOG Annual Conferences and be eligible for the Young SIOG Investigator Award.
  • Participate in SIOG task forces as the Young SIOG representative.
  • Support SIOG in developing collaborations with interest groups of other cancer related societies (eg: ESMO, ASCO, etc)
  • Improve education and trainings in geriatric oncology for junior researchers and clinicians
  • Foster international collaborations with other Young SIOG and SIOG members.
  • Join the Young SIOG community through the Twitter and Facebook Group. The group serves as a platform in which research and clinical-related questions can be shared and discussed.
  • Participate in the Young SIOG forum and annual survey to contribute your ideas
  • Lead or contribute as co-authors on Young SIOG publications and blogs articles

To promote research in the field of geriatric oncology and to support the career development of the new generation of experts, every year SIOG recognizes a Young Investigator for his/her outstanding work.
