SIOG collaborates with oncology associations and institutes worldwide for the further strengthening of the field of geriatric oncology, to contribute to the high academic standards in programmatic areas and to support continuing medical education and training in this field for the development of the health workforce at national levels.

The SIOG logo is the embodiment of the society’s values and reputation. It is a valuable asset and a powerful tool for building and publicly acknowledging exchange of knowledge with organizations from the oncology and geriatric oncology communities.

SIOG Members, oncology or geriatric associations and cancer institutes may apply to place geriatric oncology conference activities under the auspices of SIOG.
Under specific conditions, detailed below, SIOG may grant auspices or SIOG sessions, i.e. the use of its logo, for geriatric oncology activities that fall within the scope of SIOG’s Mission and Strategic Objectives.

An evaluation report (summary of the course and evaluation data) must be submitted within 30 days after the event. Failure to submit this report wthin the acceptable time period may prohibit your ability to submit future auspices requests to SIOG.

How can you benefit from this collaboration?

A geriatric oncology conference under the auspices of SIOG is an educational conference proposed, arranged and financed by a third party. After evaluation by the SIOG Auspices Committee, SIOG may grant the SIOG auspices under the following conditions:

  • minimum of one member of the Conference Organising and Scientific Programme Committee must be an active member of SIOG who must collaborate in the development of the overall program (content and speakers) to ensure that adequate geriatric oncology content is covered at the conference;
  • The core theme of the event falls within the scope of SIOG Mission and Strategic Objectives;
  • statement (500 words maximum) of why the conference program planners believe SIOG auspices are appropriate. This statement should include information on geriatric oncology content intended to be presented at the meeting including the meeting program;
  • Successful track record of the organization of the meeting, the quality of program content and the list of identified speakers correspond to SIOG’s standards and policies;
  • An administration fee of 1’000 EUR is paid to SIOG for each event application. For Low and Middle-income countries (LMICs), the fee concession of 500 EUR is applicable;
  • 25% reduction on registrations fees is offered to SIOG members. This must be present on registration materials (conference web portal, brochures, handouts, forms)
  • The event is intended for an international or national audience with an international panel of experts recommended as potential active members of SIOG. Email addresses of all speakers should be provided to SIOG (under the condition that the privacy policy of the organizing country allows it. Alternatively, the designated speakers should be contacted upon request of SIOG for contribution to SIOG’s activities);
  • The event does not contain or is related to any tobacco, weapons or alcohol related advertising or financial sourcing;
  • All event material carries the official SIOG logo with the specific mention “under the auspices of SIOG”;
  • The visual identity (logo) guidelines are adhered to in full, including the logo’s application, presentation and size specifications. A sample of SIOG logo used must be sent to SIOG for approval;
  • Unless mutually agreed by both parties, the event does not entail any financial obligation for SIOG;
  • All supporting documentation is to be provided with the application;
  • 500 word report with 4 pictures is to be sent to SIOG secretariat within one month after the meeting. This report should highlight the key messages of the event. SIOG will use the report to disseminate information related to the meeting within the SIOG community via the SIOG newsletter;
  • Completed applications must be submitted to SIOG 5 months prior to the conference dateAn English-language translation must be provided if the program is written in another language. This is to allow review by the committee members;
  • Activities under SIOG auspices are identified in the calendar of international cancer conferences and promoted throughout the SIOG Calendar of Events and network; Contact us for further information.

A session endorsed by is an educational session proposed, arranged and financed by a third party. The session can be proposed by a SIOG member. After evaluation by the SIOG Auspices Committee that the proposed session is of SIOG academic standard, SIOG can endorse the session under the following conditions:

  • the Chair and the coordinator of the session must be active SIOG members;
  • an administration fee of 600 EUR will be charged by SIOG for each session application. For Low and Middle income countries the fee is reduced to 300 EUR;
  • The SIOG logo with the mention “Session endorsed by SIOG” must only be placed next to the programme of the session;
  • The visual identity (logo) guidelines are adhered to in full, including the logo’s application, presentation and size specifications. A sample of published matters (programme, website, etc) with SIOG logo used must be sent to SIOG for approval;
  • Completed applications must be submitted to SIOG between 5 to 3 months prior to the conference dateAn English-language translation must be provided if the program is written in another language. This is to allow review by the committee members.

A SIOG session is an educational session proposed and arranged by SIOG or by a SIOG member and financed by a third party. After evaluation by the SIOG Auspices Committee, SIOG may grant the label “SIOG session” under the following conditions:

  • The subject of the event falls within the scope of SIOG Mission and Strategic Objectives;
  • All faculty members of the session must be active SIOG members;
  • Any organisation wishing to hold a SIOG session within their conference must agree to provide SIOG with slides/webcasts of the session. With reference to the conference, the content provided will be published on the SIOG website as an educational resource. Permissions from authors and speakers should also be provided;
  • The SIOG logo with the mention “SIOG Session” must be placed next to the program of the session;
  • The visual identity (logo) guidelines are adhered to in full, including the logo’s application, presentation and size specifications. A sample of published materials (program, website, etc) with SIOG logo used must be sent to SIOG for approval;
  • Completed applications must be submitted to SIOG 5 months prior to the conference dateAn English-language translation must be provided if the program is written in another language. This is to allow review by the committee members.

Fee Waiver

Academic initiatives with limited or no financial support can apply for fee reduction. SIOG considers your request within fifteen days of receiving your application.
SIOG may waive the fee, reduce or postpone the amount you have to pay or request for new SIOG membership from the event delegates.
You may apply only once every year. The Science & Education Committee will review your request.
A response will be provided in writing advising the outcome of your request, the reasons for the decision, and details about whether the fee is reduced.
