SIOG Auspices

SIOG collaborates with oncology associations and institutes to increase and develop the general knowledge of geriatric oncology, to contribute to the high academic standards in their programme and to support continuing medical education and training in this field.

The SIOG logo is the embodiment of the society’s values and reputation. It is a valuable asset and a powerful tool for building and publicly acknowledging exchange of knowledge with organizations from the oncology and geriatric oncology communities.

SIOG Members, oncology or geriatric associations and cancer institutes may apply to place geriatric oncology conference activities under the auspices of SIOG.

Under specific conditions, detailed below, the SIOG may grant auspices or SIOG sessions, i.e. the use of its logo, for geriatric oncology activities that fall within the scope of SIOG's Mission and Strategic Objectives.

1. A Geriatric Oncology Conference under the auspices of SIOG

A geriatric oncology conference under the auspices of SIOG is an educational conference proposed, arranged and financed by a third party. After evaluation by the SIOG Auspices Committee that the proposed programme is of SIOG academic standard, SIOG can grant the SIOG auspices under the following conditions:

  • a minimum of one member of the Conference Organizing and Scientific Programme Committee must be an active member of SIOG who must collaborate in the development of the overall program (content and speakers) to assure that there is adequate geriatric oncology content
  • the subject of the event falls within the scope of SIOG Mission and Strategic Objectives
  • A statement (500 words maximum) of why the conference program planners feel SIOG auspices are appropriate should be submitted with the program. This statement should include information on geriatric oncology content to be presented at the meeting.
  • the quality of the organization of the meeting, the programme and the speakers corresponds to SIOG's own high standards
  • an administration fee of 500 EUR will be charged by SIOG for each event application
  • a 25% reduction on registrations fees is mandatory for SIOG members. This must be present on registration materials.
  • The event is intended for an international or national audience with an international panel of experts recommended to be active members of SIOG. Email addresses of speakers should be provided to SIOG (if the privacy policy of the organizing country allows it. Otherwise designated speakers should be contacted upon request of SIOG for contribution to SIOG's activities).
  • The event does not carry any tobacco or alcohol related advertising
  • All event material carries the official SIOG logo with the specific mention “under the auspices of SIOG
  • The visual identity (logo) guidelines are adhered to in full, including the logo’s application, presentation and size specifications. A sample of SIOG logo used must be sent to SIOG for approval.
  • Unless mutually agreed by both parties, the event does not entail any financial obligation for SIOG
  • All supporting documentation is to be provided with the application
  • A 500 word report with 4 pictures is to be sent to SIOG secretariat within one month after the meeting. This report should highlight the key messages of the event. This is in view of sharing the information with SIOG community via SIOG newsletter
  • Activities under SIOG auspices are identified in the calendar of international cancer conferences and promoted throughout the SIOG Calendar of Events and network. Contact us for further information.
  • Completed applications must be submitted to SIOG 5 months prior to the conference date. An English-language translation must be provided if the program is written in a non-English format (this is so the committee members can review).

2. A Geriatric Oncology Session (within your oncology or geriatric conference) endorsed by SIOG

A session endorsed by is an educational session proposed, arranged and financed by a third party. The session can be proposed by a SIOG member. After evaluation by the SIOG Auspices Committee that the proposed session is of SIOG academic standard, SIOG can endorse the session under the following conditions:

  • the Chair and the coordinator of the session must be an active SIOG member
  • an administration fee of 300 EUR will be charged by SIOG for each session application
  • The SIOG logo with the mention “Session endorsed by SIOG” must only be placed next to the programme of the session.
  • The visual identity (logo) guidelines are adhered to in full, including the logo’s application, presentation and size specifications. A sample of published matters (programme, website, etc) with SIOG logo used must be sent to SIOG for approval.
  • Completed applications must be submitted to SIOG between 5 to 3 months prior to the conference date. An English-language translation must be provided if the program is written in a non-English format (this is so the committee members can review).

3. A SIOG Session at your conference

A SIOG session is an educational session proposed and arranged by SIOG or by a SIOG member and financed by a third party. After evaluation by the SIOG Auspices Committee that the proposed programme is of SIOG academic standard, SIOG can grant the label "SIOG session" under the following conditions:

  • the subject of the event falls within the scope of SIOG Mission and Strategic Objectives
  • all faculty members of the session must be active SIOG members 
  • any organisation wishing to hold a SIOG session within their conference must agree to provide SIOG with slides/webcasts of the session. The content provided will be published on the SIOG website as an educational resource. Permissions from authors should also be provided.
  • any organisation wishing to hold a SIOG session within their conference must agree to provide SIOG with slides/webcasts of the session.   • The SIOG logo with the mention “SIOG Session” must be placed next to the programme of the session.
