Monique Huisman, MD/PhD, is a surgery resident and epidemiologist. She will sub-specialize into surgical oncology and abdominal surgery. Her residency takes place at the University Medical Center in Groningen and at ZGT in Almelo (Netherlands). She received her medical degree from the University of Groningen in 2013. She finished her PhD-project in 2018. The subject of her PhD was ‘Preoperative risk assessment of adverse outcomes in onco-geriatric surgical patients’ and contains the results of the PREOP-study, a project from the SIOG surgical taskforce. As part of her PhD-project, she performed a research fellowship at the McGill Nutrition and Performance Laboratory in Montréal Canada, under the supervision of dr. A. Vigano.
