Biographical Info
Dr. Giampaolo Ugolini was born in Rimini, Italy, and obtained his medical degree and residency in General Surgery at Bologna University (with one year as Junior resident in Surgery in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital).
He completed his training in the United States working as clinical and research fellow in Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery at Rhode Island Hospital (Brown University).
He has a position as Associate Professor in Surgery at Bologna Medical School and he is Chief of General and Colorectal Surgery at Faenza Hospital.
His clinical interest is mainly dedicated in minimally invasive colorectal surgery for cancer and inflammatory bowel disease.
His research activities are focused in Surgical Outcomes and Geriatric Oncology.
He has participated actively in the international research network (supervised by Riccardo Audisio) who conceived the PREOP and GoSafe study, phase IV observational studies focused on frailty assessment tools and functional recovery of older adults undergoing surgery for cancer.
Dr. Ugolini lives in Bologna with his wife and his three children.
