SIOG 2024 Annual Conference

 “Promoting Equity & Enhancing Optimal Care Delivery”

The SIOG 2024 Annual Conference took place in Montreal, Canada from October 17-19. SIOG sincerely thanks the scientific committee, the organizing team, participants, speakers, and our partners and sponsors for their invaluable contributions to the conference’s remarkable success. The high quality of discussions and presentations notably highlights the effective translation of our delegates’ research into clinical practice. Highlights from the conference:

  • Over 400 participants representing 32 countries
  • Top five countries: USA, Canda, France, United Kingdom and Australia
  • 24 scientific sessions and 4 workshops with a total of 127 talks and 54 oral abstract presentations
  • 92 speakers and chairs from 18 countries
  • 175 onsite posters in total (244 submissions from Abstract authors)

The scientific programme covered the following 5 tracks:

  • Track 1: Clinical trials and precision medicine in older adults with cancer
  • Track 2: Biology and epidemiology in cancer and aging
  • Track 3: Strategies and health services research to improve outcomes of diverse populations of older adults with cancer and their caregivers
  • Track 4: Supportive care delivery in older adults with cancer and their caregivers
  • Track 5: Education to improve geriatric oncology knowledge and practice

“The 24th Annual SIOG Conference is accredited by the American Association of Continuing Medical Education® to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Accreditation Review Committee designates this educational activity for a maximum of 20.25 category I credits in the Association’s Credit Designation. Each physician must claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.”

To receive your Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credits, please note that will need to scan your name badge daily at the entrance of the session rooms. The number of credits will be allocated depending on the time spent on-site.

You will receive your CME certificate directly by the American Association of Continuing Medical Education®.

  • Purpose of the activity: Bring together all health professionals with an interest in geriatric oncology in order to share knowledge, collaborate and address challenges across disciplines, advance research, promote patient-centered care, engage in advocacy in addition to networking
  • The target audience: All health professionals with an interest in geriatric oncology. Oncologists, hematologists, geriatricians, radiation oncologists, surgeons, palliative care specialists, researchers and scientists, pharmacists, rehabilitation specialists, nurses and allied health professionals, etc.
  • The objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
    • Have an overview of the most significant advancements in the field of geriatric oncology over the past year, covering perspectives from medical oncology, geriatrics, surgery, hematology, and radiation therapy
    • Have an effective and tailored oncology care for older adults, including the integration of geriatric principles into cancer plans
