Conditions of Eligibility

SIOG Nursing & Allied Health targets SIOG members from the following activity sector:

  • Nursing
  • Allied Health professionals (e.g. pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists, psychologists)

SIOG Nursing & Allied Health is a SIOG Interest Group that was established by nurses and allied health professionals, members of SIOG, who are working in the field of geriatric oncology. The SIOG Nurses & Allied Health Interest (NAH) Group reaches out to all nurses and allied health professionals who work in disciplines related to cancer in older patients. It provides a forum for nurses and allied health professionals to collaborate, share challenges and concerns, and identify areas of interest.

In addition, the group also helps identify topics of interest for future SIOG conferences. More importantly, it provides exposure of nurses and allied health professionals to SIOG expert nurses and allied health professionals.

The Nursing & Allied Health interest group develops and promotes in accordance with the SIOG policies and strategy determined by the Board of Directors, excellence in geriatric oncology nursing and allied health-related activities through the SIOG strategic directions that include education and clinical practice, communication and advocacy, as well as research. It oversees the nursing and allied health-related activities included in the SIOG scientific, educational and advocacy related projects.

Nursing & Allied Health Investigator Award

Established in 2014, the SIOG NAH award is offered to recognize significant contributions from investigators in geriatric oncology nursing or allied health professions worldwide. Selection for this award is based on the scientific merit of submitted abstracts by nurses and allied health professionals for their work at the international level. Each year one Nursing & Allied Professional receieves the SIOG NAH Award for the outstanding quality of their work.

NAH Activities

The group organises monthly webinars to promote knowledge exchange and provide NAH members with an platform to present their latest research, education or quality improvement initiatives to promote collaboration and learn from each other.

The group undertakes group projects based on priorities/interests identified by the NAH group members to foster collaboration and contribute to the geriatric oncology nursing and allied health expertise. These projects typically include literature reviews and survey studies.
