Rupert Bartsch (AT)

Rupert Bartsch was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1975. Upon graduating from the University of Vienna, he worked as physician in training at different Viennese hospitals, among them St. Anna Children´s Hospital, an academic centre for paediatric haematology.
In 2002 he joined the Breast Cancer Group of the Clinical Division of Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna where he worked closely together with other breast cancer specialists within the Comprehensive Cancer Centre Vienna and the Austrian Breast and Colorectal Cancer Study Group (ABCSG). From 2009 to 2010, Rupert Bartsch was head of the Breast Health Centre at the Elisabethinen Hospital, Linz. Since 2014, he is an associate professor of medicine at the Medical University of Vienna and served as director of the metastatic breast cancer program. From 2017 until 2018, Rupert Bartsch was the head of Medicine and Research of the German Breast Group (GBG).
Apart from clinical research in the field of breast cancer and brain metastases, his main scientific interest is the identification of resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies.
Rupert Bartsch has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, among them Annals of Oncology, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, and Lancet Oncology.
