Martine Puts

Martine Puts RN PhD is an Associate Professor and Director Master of Nursing Program at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto.

She currently holds a Canada Research Chair in Care of Frail older Adults. Dr. Puts’ research interests are improving the health and wellbeing of older adults with cancer and previously she was awarded a Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Investigator Award. She is co-PI on a multicentre randomized controlled trial examining the clinical and cost-effectiveness of comprehensive geriatric assessment and management for older adults with cancer (the 5C study) which is currently recruiting older adults with cancer considered for cancer treatment in 8 hospitals across three provinces in Canada. She is one of the 4 founders of the Canadian Network of Aging and Cancer (CNAC).

Martine Puts completed her PhD in 2006 at the Faculty of Medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands on the topic of frailty. She has completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Solidage Research Group on Frailty and Aging, the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at McGill University and the Jewish General Hospital, in Montreal,  Canada, from 2006 to 2009.
